Inclement Weather Make Up Days
Dear Deckerville Community School Members,
As you know, we experienced particularly harsh winter weather conditions during the months of January and February this year, bringing our total number of school cancellations to 11 days. Normally, the State allows for up to six cancellations per calendar year. In addition, school districts may apply for a waiver that grants up to an additional three days to be forgiven. Deckerville Community Schools has already applied for and received this waiver, so we have been forgiven 9 days total. This leaves two days that we will have to make up.
In reviewing all options, I have decided that the least disruptive option for families will be to hold our first make-up day on, Monday, April 22nd, which is the day after Easter Sunday. On Monday, April 22nd, school will be in session from 8:05am until 2:57pm. The Tech Center will also be open on that day. Our second make-up day will be held on Thursday, June 13th. On Thursday, June 13th, school will be in session from 8:05 until 11:30am. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause Deckerville families.
There has been much talk of granting schools two additional days due to the two days that Michigan was declared to be under emergency. However, as of today, no decision has been made by the legislature. If the State legislature ends up granting us two more days, then we will revert back to our normal school calendar and not have to make up any days.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Hugan
Superintendent
Deckerville Community Schools

When Mrs. Marlow figures out the No Talking contest, she DOESN’T run and tell the other teachers or the principal or the parents. Why not?
When should you tell a secret?
When should you not tell a secret?
Why is it hard to keep to yourself?
Use only three words.
